WTG Compellent Users’ Group Spring ’08

BOSTON (March 13, 2008)—On March 12th, Winslow Technology Group, LLC presented the Spring ’08 Compellent Users’ Group—a semi-annual meeting that focuses on providing users with information to improve their experience and better leverage their Compellent SAN investment. This session hosted customers from 6 states and a wide range of industries—communication, education, finance, healthcare, manufacturing and technology.

The session kicked off with presentations by two Compellent customers: Brian Smith, Technical Manager of The GEM Group, Inc (recently featured on the cover of Network World magazine), and Craig Gardner, Vice President, Systems Engineering of Eastern Bank. Brian Smith reviewed best practices for implementing VMWare on the Compellent SAN. Craig Gardner discussed using the “SAN as a toolbox”. He reviewed how the Compellent SAN has helped his IT organization accommodate operating system and application upgrades for example.

Marty Sanders, Compellent Technologies Inc. VP of Technology Services, reviewed features and benefits of the 4.0 release, and gave a preview of Compellent’s technology road map for the next 3-5 years. Some of the highlighted features were; Fast Track, Thin Import, Windows Space Recovery, and the Series 30 Hardware Specs. Jim Harrell, WTG VP of Systems Engineering, and Compellent Storage Architect, Kevin Pazera, presented practical tips for users. They covered a wide range of topics from utilizing the available Compellent settings, to the use of Replay Manager and Enterprise Manager, the benefits of upgrading to 4.0, and all of the available resources Compellent and WTG provide to all of their end users.

“The first Compellent Users’ Group meeting was 6 or 7 people at a round table about 3-1/2 years ago, and I’m amazed as I look at the growth this group has experienced,” beams Scott Winslow, President and Founder of Winslow Technology Group. “WTG’s goal is to ensure that our customers have timely, relevant, technical information. These sessions provide them with insight into current storage issues and access to solutions as they share their experiences, build a network of other SAN users, and get the latest information from both the manufacturer and the re-seller.”

All enjoyed dinner, and then were off to the TD Banknorth Garden to witness the Boston Celtics beat the Seattle Supersonics in a season-high 10th straight victory.
